It's often difficult for adult children and/or family members who live far away the ability to provide daily living support and safety for a parent, grandparent, or other relative who may need assistance. We are here to help.

What is Respite Care?

Respite Care provides temporary relief for a Primary Caregiver, enabling you to take a much-needed break from the demands of providing care for a sick, aging, or disabled family member.

Why Respite Care?

It eases the burden on the Primary Caregiver by relieving their level of stress, renewing their energy, and restoring a sense of balance within their lives.

Benefits of Respite Care:

  • Renewal and Relaxation - Doing things that provide you with peace decreases your heart rate and improves your day-to-day mood.

  • Replenished Energy - You have to take time to renew your energy to be efficient in your life.

  • Break - Even if it's only a few hours away, it can help you relax and maintain your sense of who you are. You are just as important!

  • Perspective - A break from being the Primary Giver allows you to see things clearer and even develop better ways of doing things to keep you from becoming exhausted.

We:

  • Encourage the Primary caregivers to assess their responsibilities regularly and ask for help when needed. Remember, self-care is as important as caring for your loved ones.

  • Encourage the Primary Caregivers to prioritize your own well-being, it's important. Talking openly and regularly about your experiences can help prevent exhaustion and burnout. Don't hesitate to reach out to friends, family, or support groups for help and. Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your loved.

  • Encourage the Primary Caregiver to recognize their true feelings and discuss disproportionate tasks. Delegating or asking for help is a sign of strength.

  • Encourage the Primary Caregiver to bridge distances and provide care for their loved ones. Utilizing calls, messaging apps, or other digital tools can help maintain a strong relationship and provide support from afar. Remember, even small gestures can make a difference in the quality of care provided.
